Chocolate has been making our lives better for almost 4000 years already. Starting as a hot drink, it went on to tempt us in the shape of bars, and then a few centuries ago as bonbons with exquisite fillings. Nowadays, master chocolate makers continue to experiment with shapes and tastes of bonbons, but also embark on seasonal creations, and chocolate sculptures for decoration. One such master is Roel van Gelder of Chocolaterie de Swaen in Kampen. With many years of experience in making chocolate, he finally decided to start his own shop in 2015, choosing a top location in the medieval centre of the Hanseatic city, just opposite of Gallery LuS.
